Studio Session – Andy Kanies
A couple of weeks ago I had a great honor, or at least I consider it an honor. I was asked if I could do some head shots for an up and coming actor here in the Nashville area. Let’s put it this way, this was a first and I was totally out of my element! So I really need to get this out of the way first, before I introduce you to Andy.
Thank heavens for my friend Brett Engle of Brett Engle Photography. Not only did he let me use his studio, but he helped set things up and taught me what to do. OK, he did not teach me as much as he “told” me what to do. But at least I got some instruction and felt really good with the outcome.
I’ve always been one who said I would fix my photos in post production using Lightroom and Photoshop. WOW, what a difference it makes when you can get things right in camera. My dream list now includes some sort of lighting and a few other gadgets Brett let me use!
Brett is always trying to find ways to give back to the community, so let me share this with my local blog friends. Brett is offering the following promo for Veterans and their spouses:
Free Headshots for Veterans and their Spouses…..
Giving back: If you know anyone that is a Veteran of any branch of the US Military that is needing professional headshots or portraits for themselves and or their spo…use please send me their contact information or give them mine. I will do a free mini session (up to 30 minutes) with 5 images that can be used for any personal (non commercial) use. They may also use these for getting prints and for using on resume’s, social media sites, etc. to help look for a job or a better job.
If interested, you can contact Brett at this link:
Now on to Andy Kanies! I’ve actually known Andy for about 12 years now, and have watched him grow and mature into a fine young actor and director. When his mother wanted to do something nice for him, she called and set this appointment up for him as a gift. So the pressure was actually a little higher than normal. You see, Andy’s mom is also my boss, so things HAD to be perfect on this shoot. I’m very happy wit the way these photos have turned out, and I hope Andy and Kate are too!
Here’s a small list of reviews and plays Andy has done in and around town over the years:
Playography (kind of like a Bibliography, but about plays instead of books?)
J’adoube ( A 14 minute video on YouTube, that I really love)
Well, that’s about it for the day, until next time!
