P52 / Sweet Shot Tuesday
Well here “it” is again and this year I’m already doing 100% better than I did last year. The “it” I speak of are photo challenges! You see, last year I had the idea that I could do a weekly challenge and be successful in it. Yea right! I actually made it the first week and never looked at it again! So, this means that I have doubled my entries this year. Hopefully I can keep it up!
A couple of years ago I was gifted with a seat in Kent Weakley’s “Nightime Photography E-course” and it changed the way I look at photography with the absence of light. Taking the knowledge I learned in that e-course I started shooting sunrises and sunsets, and that has become a passion of mine. I am one of the admins for a Facebook group in Nashville called Middle Tennessee Shutterbugs and one of our yearly outings is shooting sunrise on News Years Day. This year we had close to 20 people signed up for our outing, but the weather made it darn near impossible to shoot that morning. I decided to go ahead and try again on this past Saturday, and we were successful. Needless to say it was a little cold on that bridge at 4:30 a.m., but we survived.
Here are a few of my captures from that outing:
The shot above is a a set of 4 shots HDR ran through Photomatix and Nik color Efex Pro.
The color cast on the one on the left comes from the fact that I had a set of graduated filters stacked on my lens. As much as I like these shots, this is not the one I’m setting up as my entry into P52 / Sweet Shot Tuesday. It comes from my trip back home.
As cold as it was I just knew the day was gonna be my chance to catch a shot I’ve always wanted. You see, we have this old train trestle in a park near my house. In fact, the shot I entered that won me a seat in Kent’s e-course came from this train trestle (click here). So on my way home, I made an effort to secure my favorite shot of the morning! So, here ya go, this is my entry into this weeks P52 / Sweet Shot Tuesday!
That’s all I got, until next week!
